Breast Health Screening Through a Simple Tear Sample

A new, noninvasive approach to breast health screening — no blood draw and no radiation.

The Auria® Biological Breast Cancer Screening Test is an at-home test that analyzes specific protein biomarkers found in your tear fluid to provide additional information about breast health.

Auria is designed for women age 30 and older as a supplemental screening tool alongside recommended breast cancer screening.

How Does Auria Work?

Breast cancer can produce biological changes that may be reflected in proteins circulating within the body.

Auria measures two protein biomarkers in tear fluid:

S100A8 S100A9

The laboratory combines the biomarker results with age to generate an individualized result indicating whether additional breast evaluation may be appropriate.

Simple At-Home Tear Collection

No blood draw. No radiation. No breast compression.

The test uses a small collection strip placed along the lower eyelid to collect a tear sample.

The sample is then returned to the laboratory for analysis.

Who May Consider Auria?

Auria is intended for women 30 years of age and older who want an additional biological screening tool as part of their breast-health strategy.

It may be particularly appealing to women looking for:

• An additional screening tool between routine imaging appointments • A noninvasive biological breast-health test • Screening that does not involve radiation • An option that does not require breast compression • Additional breast-health information regardless of breast density • An option compatible with breast implants

What Does a Positive Result Mean?

Auria is not a diagnostic test for breast cancer.

A result indicating increased concern does not mean that breast cancer is present. Benign breast conditions and other biological factors can potentially influence results.

An abnormal result should be followed by appropriate medical evaluation and, when indicated, diagnostic breast imaging or other testing.

Auria Does NOT Replace Mammography

This is important.

Auria is designed to supplement—not replace—recommended mammography or other breast imaging.

Women should continue breast cancer screening according to recommendations appropriate for their age and individual risk.

A new breast lump, nipple discharge, skin changes, nipple changes, or other concerning breast symptoms should be medically evaluated regardless of an Auria result.
