Description
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the bite of an infected blacklegged tick. It's most common in the Northeast, mid-Atlantic, and upper-Midwest regions of the United States.
Symptoms
- A red, painless rash that may look like a bull's-eye
- Fever, headache, fatigue, and tiredness
- Stiff neck, muscle aches, and joint pain
- Heart palpitations, an irregular heartbeat, or dizziness
- Pain that comes and goes in your tendons, muscles, joints, and bones
- Inflammation of the brain and spinal cord
- Nerve pain
