Description
Rule Out Hidden Parasites with the O&P Stool Test
Many individuals experiencing crawling sensations, itching, or the feeling of “something moving under the skin” may be told it’s delusional parasitosis—a psychological condition where someone believes they are infested with parasites when no medical evidence has been found.
But what if there is a parasite—just one that hasn’t been properly detected?
Parasitology O&P Stool Test
(Ova & Parasite Microscopy Exam)
This test examines stool samples under a microscope to detect actual evidence of parasites that may cause:
- Digestive symptoms (diarrhea, bloating, gas)
- Unexplained skin issues
- Chronic fatigue
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Neurological symptoms (brain fog, mood swings)
- Itching or formication (sensation of bugs crawling)
Who Should Consider This Test?
- Anyone told they may have delusional parasitosis but still experiencing persistent symptoms
- Individuals with mental health symptoms that coincide with gut issues
- Those who’ve traveled to areas with poor water or food sanitation
- People who feel unheard or dismissed when reporting ongoing sensations or skin symptoms
How It Works:
- Pick up a stool collection kit from our office
- Collect at home and return your sample
- Lab processes the sample to check for:
- Parasite eggs (ova)
- Larvae or cysts
- Trophozoites (active parasites)
Why Test?
Not every case is “in your head.” Some parasites can evade detection unless the right test is used. An O&P stool test offers a simple way to rule in or rule out parasitic infection and gives clarity for both patient and provider.
