Description
This blood test panel evaluates parathyroid hormone function, calcium and phosphorus balance, and kidney involvement. It is commonly used to investigate abnormal calcium levels and symptoms related to bone, muscle, nerve, or metabolic health.
What This Test Measures
Parathyroid Hormone (PTH), Intact Parathyroid hormone regulates calcium and phosphorus levels by acting on bone, kidneys, and vitamin D metabolism. Abnormal results may indicate primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, or kidney-related causes.
Calcium Calcium is essential for bone strength, muscle contraction, nerve signaling, and cardiac function. Abnormal levels may be associated with bone loss, kidney stones, muscle cramps, fatigue, or cognitive symptoms.
Phosphorus Phosphorus works closely with calcium to support bone structure and cellular energy production. Imbalances often reflect parathyroid or kidney dysfunction.
Creatinine Creatinine is a marker of kidney function. Kidney health plays a key role in calcium and phosphorus regulation and is essential for accurate interpretation of PTH results.
