Description
A "student allied health panel" refers to a blood test required for students entering healthcare programs, like nursing or physical therapy, to check their immunity levels against various diseases by measuring antibody titers, ensuring they are adequately vaccinated and protected before working in clinical settings.
The following test are included:
- Measles – Also known as rubeola, is a virus that infects cells in the lung and in the back of the throat
- Mumps – This is a contagious viral infection that is easily spread through sneezing, coughing, talking, or by sharing items (e.g. utensils or cups)
- Rubella – Highly contagious infection characterized by fever and rash
- Hepatitis B – Inflammation of the liver caused by a viral infection
- QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QFT) test is a blood test that helps detect tuberculosis (TB) by measuring the body's immune response to the bacteria that causes TB
- Varicella – Chickenpox and shingles are caused by an infection with the varicella zoster virus (VZV)
