See How Well Your Body Is Processing and Eliminating Environmental Chemicals

Your liver plays a major role in processing medications, environmental chemicals, and other foreign substances so they can be eliminated from the body. The Hepatic Detox Profile from Doctor’s Data is a simple urine test that provides insight into important Phase I and Phase II detoxification processes.

What Does the Test Measure?

The Hepatic Detox Profile evaluates two key urinary markers:

D-Glucaric Acid – Phase I D-glucaric acid can reflect increased activity of Phase I detoxification pathways associated with exposure to a wide range of foreign chemicals, including pesticides, petrochemicals, solvents, medications, and other environmental compounds.

Mercapturic Acids – Phase II Mercapturic acids are end products formed as the body processes and eliminates certain compounds through pathways involving glutathione and cysteine. Levels can provide information about the activity and capacity of Phase II detoxification.

Looking at these markers together may help identify situations in which Phase I processing and Phase II elimination are not well balanced.

Who May Benefit From This Test?

The Hepatic Detox Profile may be useful for individuals with:

  • Known or suspected environmental or occupational chemical exposure
  • Chemical sensitivity
  • Concerns about toxin exposure
  • A desire to evaluate detoxification capacity
  • A clinician-directed detoxification program
  • A need to assess Phase I and Phase II detoxification activity

Why Test?

“Detox” is often discussed in general terms. This test provides objective laboratory measurements of specific urinary markers associated with the body's processing and elimination of foreign chemicals.

The Hepatic Detox Profile is not a standard liver function panel and does not replace conventional testing such as AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, albumin, or other testing when liver disease is suspected.
