Description

This panel includes essential tests used to monitor HIV infection, evaluate the effectiveness of treatment, and assess immune system health. These tests are commonly performed after an initial HIV diagnosis or during ongoing management of HIV-positive individuals.

Included Tests:

  • CD4 Count
  • Measures the number of CD4 T-lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that plays a key role in immune function. A lower CD4 count indicates a weakened immune system and higher risk of opportunistic infections.
  • Viral Load (HIV-1 Quantitative PCR)
  • Measures the amount of HIV RNA in the blood. This test helps determine how actively the virus is replicating and whether treatment is effectively suppressing the virus.
  • HIV-1/2 Antigen and Antibodies Test (4th Generation)
  • Confirms the presence of HIV infection and can detect both HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies, as well as the HIV-1 p24 antigen—useful for ongoing infection status verification.

Purpose of This Panel:

  • Monitor treatment response
  • Track viral suppression
  • Evaluate immune system function
  • Guide decisions about starting or changing HIV therapy

Test Details:
