Description
The Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) test measures the level of ACE in the blood. ACE levels may be elevated in certain conditions involving granuloma formation and inflammation.

When This Test Is Commonly Used
- Evaluation of suspected sarcoidosis
- Monitoring patients with sarcoidosis
- Evaluation of certain granulomatous diseases
- Investigation of unexplained inflammatory conditions
Patient Preparation
Fasting: Not required.
Water may be consumed normally. Certain medications, particularly ACE inhibitors, may affect ACE levels. Do not discontinue prescription medications unless instructed by your healthcare provider.
