Description

A pre-op (surgery) blood test panel is a group of blood tests that are performed before surgery to assess a patient's health. The tests can help identify potential health concerns and determine if the patient's blood is clotting normally.

This panel includes the following test:

Complete Blood Count (CBC)

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)

Prothrombin Time (PT) and Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT)

Fasting not required.

Additional information about each test is listed below:

A complete blood count (CBC) is a common blood test that is part of a pre-operative blood panel to assess a patient's health before surgery. A CBC measures the number and type of cells in your blood, including red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets.

Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) helps doctors assess a patient's health and identify any potential risks before surgery. The CMP is a series of 14 blood tests that measure various substances in the blood, including electrolytes, blood sugar, and liver and kidney function.

A prothrombin time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT) test measures how long it takes for blood to clot. These tests are used to assess a patient's risk of bleeding before surgery.
