An estradiol test measures the amount of estradiol, a type of estrogen, in your blood. It can help diagnose or monitor a number of conditions related to reproductive health, including: 

  • Puberty: If puberty starts earlier or later than expected. 

  • Menstrual problems: To evaluate menstrual problems, including abnormal bleeding or missed periods. 

  • Pregnancy or fertility treatments: To monitor a pregnancy or fertility treatments. 

  • Menopause symptoms: To evaluate menopause symptoms. 

  • Hormone replacement therapy: To monitor hormone replacement therapy for menopause.

For Men

Estradiol is a form of estrogen that plays a key role in male sexual function, including: regulating sex drive, achieving erections, producing sperm, and testicular function.
