Description

What does a respiratory panel show?

If one has respiratory symptoms that are not responding to treatment it may be helpful to further define the cause of the symptoms and adjust treatment.

This test is used to detect respiratory pathogens – adenovirus, coronavirus, human metapneumovirus, human rhinovirus/enterovirus, influenza A, influenza B, parainfluenza, respiratory syncytial virus, Bordetella parapertussis, Bordetella pertussis, Chlamydia pneumoniae, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

With persistent respiratory symptoms, knowing the pathogen can alter treatment and possibly avoid excessive antibiotics.

Fasting not required.
