Description

Find out what may be hiding in the dust in your home.

The Dust Test is an environmental screening test designed to identify elevated levels of mold in the home—even when mold is not visible—and help determine whether potential mold sources may be contributing to the overall environmental mold burden.

Using a simple dust sample collected from your living environment, the test analyzes 36 mold species using a panel based on molds evaluated in the EPA's Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) research.

What Does the Dust Test Measure?

The 36 molds are divided into two groups:

Group 1 Molds Mold species associated with homes that have experienced water damage or mold problems.

Group 2 Molds Mold species commonly found in homes without a history of significant water damage.

Because mold spores are naturally present in the environment, finding some mold is expected. Your report compares detected levels with reference values and identifies molds present at substantially elevated levels, including those measured at 10x, 100x, or 1,000x above reference levels.

Easy-to-Understand Results

Each report includes a 1-to-5 coding system designed to make the results easier to understand.

The coding system helps show whether the overall mold findings are relatively low or whether elevated mold levels may warrant further investigation.

Why Test Your Home?

Hidden moisture and mold can sometimes exist behind walls, beneath flooring, around plumbing, in HVAC systems, basements, crawl spaces, and other areas without obvious visible mold.

Environmental mold exposure may be particularly important to investigate when someone is experiencing persistent symptoms and there is concern that the home environment could be contributing.

Mold, mold fragments, microbial volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and certain mycotoxins can be relevant to indoor air quality and may affect susceptible individuals. The Dust Test can help identify whether further evaluation of the home may be appropriate.
