  • Urethral or genital irritation
  • Unexplained genital discharge
  • Pelvic or genital discomfort
  • Persistent urinary symptoms despite negative routine testing
  • Recurrent urinary or genital symptoms
  • Evaluation following possible sexual exposure

What Does It Test For?

This PCR test detects Ureaplasma species (spp.), which may include Ureaplasma urealyticum and Ureaplasma parvum, depending on the laboratory assay.

Important Information

Ureaplasma can be found in healthy individuals without causing disease. A positive result does not necessarily mean that Ureaplasma is causing symptoms or that treatment is needed. Results should be interpreted along with symptoms, medical history, and other laboratory findings.
